This tutorial will show you how to add a tap interface to your linux machine and how to communicate with your dynamips router session via the tap interface. In a previous tutorial, I used a loopback interface on a Windows XP machine to accomplish the same goal.

I have been using tftp and ftp for configuration file backups for a while. In an effort to tighten security, I tried to use scp several times without any luck. I was not able to find a lot of documention on Cisco’s website or other websites. Through trial and error, I was able to figure it out
Hopefully, this video will help fill the gaps for others wanting to use a secure method to backup router configs.
