For all those who can’t ping the loopback adapter on windws 7 when all else is good- the firewall issue. Control panel>System and security>Windows firewall> Advanced settings>
You’ll get the list Domain Profile, private profile and Public profile. Click on windows firewall properties under public profile to get to the Windows Firewall with Advanced Security… Then on either domain,private or public profile tab,(whichever your loopback adapter is under:by default public) click on protected network connections (Customize)and uncheck the loopback. Voila!! You can now ping successfully.

The console problem is due to incorrect path to putty. Just go to preference on GNS3,General(new version) or Dynamips(older version),then check out the path in the Terminal command window.e.g C:\Program Files\Putty\putty.exe -telnet %h %p. Create a folder named Putty in Program files and drop putty.exe in it. Everything should work fine (Win7 and I presume Vista too).

1. While testing Dynamips getting message”Failed to start Dynamips”
2. When starting router “cant start dynamips on port 7200″

Can I use GNS3 to achieve my CCIE?

I have installed GNS3, its working fine but when i console the router it say,”C:\program files\ putty\putty.exe-telnet localhost2000.The system cannot find the file specified”.
I also got error message in dynagen when i telent the router it says, windows cannot find telnet.

Please help me.

I installed GNS3 0.7 RC1, added the IOS, I drag the Router, HypervisorManager says “Can’t Start Dynamips on port 7200″, I disabled my Firewall &Antivirus, still there same, I checked –> Edit –> Preferences –> Dynamips –> Test “Failed to Start Dynamips”What do I need to start configuring my router
