Rana,

I was having these same problems and have been successful by creating the VM first (do not install the CUCM image), once the vm has been created, go into settings and make sure your hard drive is IDE, at least 80 GB, and use bridged networking (replicate physical network connection). Then under the CD drive, choose the location where your ISO is. Then power on the machine. This worked for me. It seems that if you go through the VmWare initial install tasks, where it asks you for a username/password, it somehow breaks the install, so to bypass this I had to create the VM first. With this method, VmWare doesn't ask for that initial user/pass information.

Problem Setting Up Lab

I am using laptop only, no Ethernet Connection but wireless available on 192.168.1.0/24

- Installed Ubuntu 10.04 desktop
- Installed VMware Server 2.0.2 on Ubuntu 10.04 desktop
 o Current Network Settings
 o eth0: not configured
 o lo: 127.0.0.0/8
 o Vmnet1: 172.16.34.1/24
 o Vmnet8: 172.16.193.1/24
 o wlan0: 192.168.1.108/24 gateway 192.168.1.254
- Installed CUCM6.0.1 in VMware Server 2.0.2 with the following settings
 o IP: 10.10.10.10/25
 o Gateway: 10.10.10.1

Question: What device/port should have the 10.10.10.1 ip address? Should I just configure Ubuntu 10.04 eth0 port with 10.10.10.1/24

Hi,
for successfull installation of CUCM 6 (6.0.1.2000-4) in VMware (and no login issues), avoid quick install method in VMware 7. Configure a new VMachine (RedHatEntriprise3) and choose i will Install the OS later. The disk size is not an issue (at least in my case to be >= 80G in order to work). As soon as the VMachine is ready , the next step is to use CD/DVD or the .iso fle to install CUCM. The whole process takes about 40-45 minutes (depending on memory applied). Then setup installion is done correctly (following the steps described) and login can be done at cli and via http. The quick install method in VMware 7 does not result in correct installation for some reason (appache is not installed for web access , network settings are not applied [ip address, hostname, etc] no user accounts are created (nothing on /etc/shadow), etc, as you can login wth root/cisco and check what is missing - however havent found something useful so to run from there...../etc/opt/cisco ???

Great video and help Josh.
