Please Chris I have been trying to upgrade pixfirewall failover after I successfully upgraded the primary firewall. I just could not connect to the console no matter how hard I try. I full out the failover pix but the console won't come up. What should I do?

Thanks.

Hi,

I have recently installed GNS3 0.5. I still can’t console into the pix emulator irrespective of the image I use. I have no trouble with the routers, just the firewall. I have followed the tutorial but I cannot figure it out. Can you help?

I am having the same pemu issue as klaus.
I am running ubuntu 64bit 9.04 with cpulimit. My pix starts up fine and then freezes sometimes it will actually come back to life after a few minutes. It's really a strange error. I tried this on 64bit windows vista and this isn't happening at all.

Does any one else have this problem or have a solution?

Regarding the Pix versions 6.xx IF you are fast enough to open the console just after starting the pix, you'll see the firmware loading, BUT it will reboot. Why is this ?
I can only think that the emulated hardware differs from the 501, 506 and 515 where the 6.xx runs on.

The pix being emulated is a 525.

Also there are 4 netports in the emulated hardware, where the 501, 506 and 515 pr default only have 2.

Perhaps this is why the "pix" reboots ?

Some people here ssems to have the 6.xx versions to work, if any of you who did this are reading this, please let us know how you did so.
perhaps an older version og GNS ? I've tested this on gns3 0.6

@Bob L
Telnet and SSH access are only valid after the firmware and configuration has been loaded (and the acceptance of telnet and ssh in the config) this is why you don't get the access when this is required

Hi Guys!
I have some problems running pemu on GNS3. I use Ubuntu 64-bit and Pix Image 8.0.4.
I have already use a serial and an activation-Key and all the features are unlocked. I use cpulimit to limit the CPU from being overwhelmed by the pemu process.
My real problem is when I console in to the PIX after a couple of seconds it freezes and I have to reboot the PIX. The CPU is OK and the other applications are working pretty fine. Also I run in my topology a router 3640 which is very stable and has no problem at all.
What might be the problem?
